Marriage Preparation

"And they shall become one..." Genesis 2:24

Congratulations on your engagement!

Now that you are engaged, you have promised to marry for life in a covenant, sacramental marriage. We want your wedding day to be wonderful. The following are general guidelines for planning your wedding.

Engaged couples registered at Prince of Peace, need to contact the parish office at least six months before their planned marriage to arrange an appointment to begin marriage preparation. No dates or times for the wedding ceremony will be set until after the initial meeting. The basic components of the marriage preparation process are:

  • Establishing freedom to marry. (Any prior marriages have been annulled)
  • Completing all Archdiocesan required paper work.
  • Completion of an Engaged Enrichment or Engaged Encounter weekend.
  • Completion of a Prepare/Enrich inventory and meeting with mentor couple.
  • Choosing the marriage scripture readings and liturgical music.
  • The wedding ceremony requires modest dress. The bridal party's attire should not be revealing. If in question, shawls would be appropriate.
  • These items must be completed before the wedding will be performed.
  • There is no charge for a wedding at Prince of Peace Catholic Community.
  • If you are cohabitating, read this.
